Signal Meets Scale

Built on well-established assay formats, MSD® leverages electroluminescent (ECL) detection for multiplexed cytokine measurements, offering distinct advantages over more traditional platforms.

Highly sensitive quantitative data can be generated from serum or plasma samples as small as 25µL, with a large library of customizable single plex and multiplex panels available to support your study’s objectives.

Features of Meso Scale Discovery

MSD® allows for up to 10 analytes to be investigated per well from a single 96-well plate or 384-well plate and offers up to a 40 plex format that can be customized for your biomarker of interest. This approach ultimately enables high throughput and cost-effective data generation when measuring two or more analytes simultaneously is a necessity.

MSD delivers low limits of detection and broad dynamic ranges, providing reliable quantitative data across a wide concentration span. These features can be critical for measuring immune responses in a clinical setting.

MSD® accommodates multiplexed assays with starting sample volumes as low as 25 µL. This allows researchers to conserve precious patient samples while generating comprehensive cytokine and chemokine profiles from a single measurement.

CellCarta supports and validates standard multiplex MSD® panels investigating cytokines, chemokines, and inflammation markers.

Alternatively, your team can work with CellCarta to design custom MSD® panels tailored to your specific analyte targets. We can design panels that investigate up to 10 analytes simultaneously, and perform validation for your specific clinical applications.

CellCarta has extensive experience designing and optimizing MSD® assays for use in clinical trials. Notably, our panels are CLIA-certified and have been validated for exploratory and secondary endpoints, ensuring your workflow returns reliable, reproducible results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Meso Scale Discovery® (MSD) is an electrochemiluminescent (ECL)-based detection platform used for multiplexed, high-sensitivity, quantitative immunoassays. MSD® boasts several advantages over similar platforms like ELISA, including lower limits of detection and broader dynamic ranges. CellCarta offers the MSD® platform for cytokine and chemokine screening, providing quantitative data from serum or plasma samples as small as 25 µL.

In a 96-well or 384-well plate format, CellCarta's MSD® assays can measure up to 10 analytes per well simultaneously. MSD® also offers single plex and up to 40 plex formats that can be customized for your specific cytokines and chemokines of interest. All formats enable high-throughput, cost-effective data generation without a proportional increase in sample volume requirements.

Yes. CellCarta has quantified and characterized assays for use in clinical trials. For example, our proinflammatory MSD® panel has been validated for use as secondary endpoints and is CLIA-certified, enabling deployment in regulated clinical laboratory settings. Multi-analyte MSD assays can also be performed in GLP/GCLP-validated environments to support submission-ready regulatory data packages for clinical development programs.

CellCarta's Meso Scale Discovery assays are typically designed to run on serum or plasma samples. Multiplexed measurements of up to 10 analytes require as little as 25 µL of sample per well, allowing for the preservation of limited and/or precious clinical samples while generating comprehensive immune profile data from a single measurement.
