Robust Pathology Expertise

CellCarta’s team of 20+ in-house pathologists and 20+ imaging scientists provide powerful integrated pathology services across our global network.

Our pathologists continually receive specialist training and alignment testing from CDx developers to score patient samples in pre-market approval registrational trials.

CellCarta’s digital pathology team works together to develop, validate, and deploy visual and automatic digital scoring methods for developed assays in clinical trials and biomarker testing.

Our Pathologists’ Capabilities

Our pathologists have extensive clinical, diagnostic and surgical expertise, including:

  • Tissue and tumor annotation
  • Minimal residual disease and pathologic response scoring
  • Disease activity scoring in inflammatory conditions
  • Ground truth annotations and scoring for algorithm validation
  • IHC assay scoring methods
  • ISH enumeration

For any area of expertise that is not in-house, we work with external consultant pathologists.

Quality controlled whole slide imaging workflow based upon ICC profiles and calibrated equipment guarantees color consistency and reproducibility across our global imaging network. Our FDA-approved scanner suite and specialist platforms include:
  • Leica Aperio GT450
  • Roche DP200/600
  • 3Dhistech
  • BioView
  • Zeiss AxioScan
  • Akoya PhenoImager
  • Lunaphore COMET
  • Rarecyte Cytefinder HTII

Our pathologists work in close collaboration with our imaging scientists to develop and cross-validate visual and automatic AI-powered image analysis algorithms.

Our digital pathology team has expertise in algorithm development and validation for use in every phase of your clinical programs, including:

  • Visiopharm®
  • HALO® Link
  • Aperio HALO Dx

We ensure our pathologists have access to world-class tools and regularly participate in training and proficiency programs to ensure delivery of high-quality, reliable results.

We use Pathomation’s Global Connectivity platform to integrate digital image viewing into our LIMS, pathology training platform, and customer portal. This inclusion facilitates internal and external collaboration, allowing us to provide efficient pathology workflows for your study.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our pathologists have expertise in scoring a wide range of diagnostic assays for clinical trials, biomarker testing, and companion diagnostic (CDx) development. Integrated pathology services include IF, IHC, ISH, and digital pathology, covering tissue and tumor annotation, MRD and pathologic response scoring, disease activity scoring, IHC methods (TPS, CPS, TILs, TLS, HER-2, PD-L1), ISH enumeration, and algorithm validation.
Our pathologists are continually trained in novel and approved scoring methods and key platforms. They work closely with our imaging scientists, who specialize in digital pathology, digital imaging, algorithm development, AI, and FISH enumeration. To support ongoing education, CellCarta developed Pathotrainer, a proprietary digital pathology scoring and annotation platform used for both internal training and client programs.

CellCarta has a team of more than 20 in-house anatomic and molecular pathologists, supported by over 20 imaging scientists specializing in digital pathology, imaging, and algorithm development. For any program requiring specific sub-specialty expertise not available in-house, we engage specialist consultant pathologists within our global quality framework.

Our pathologists and imaging scientists work with an FDA-approved scanner suite, including Leica Aperio GT450, Roche DP200/600, 3Dhistech, BioView, Zeiss AxioScan, Akoya PhenoImager, Lunaphore COMET, and Rarecyte Cytefinder HTII. AI-powered image analysis is conducted using platforms including Visiopharm, HALO by Indica Labs, Lunit SCOPE, Akoya inForm, and navify by Roche, deployed across our global histopathology sites.
