Test Description
BCL6 is a proto-oncogene that inhibits apoptosis. BCL6 protein is mainly expressed in normal germinal center B cells and related lymphomas. Diagnostically, BCL6 IHC may be used for classification of follicular lymphomas, diffuse large B-cell lymphomas, Burkitt’s lymphomas, and nodular, lymphocyte-predominance Hodgkin’s lymphoma. BCL6 IHC results combined with BCL2 IHC results may be used to help classification of mantle cell lymphomas, and nodular, lymphocyte-predominance Hodgkin’s lymphoma. BCL6 protein is not expressed in B-CLL, mantle cell, hairy cell leukemia, and marginal-zone derived lymphomas.
