FASCIN

Fascin is an actin bundling protein that plays a major role in cell adhesion, cell motility, and cytoskeletal maintenance. Some research groups believe that among immune cells, its expression is restricted to dendritic cells. Others have found fascin expression to be present in other immune cell types, though still very highly expressed in dendritic cells. Aberrant expression of fascin is indicated in multiple types of cancer. In CRC, high expression promotes tumor cell invasion of the surrounding tissues. Fascin is a prognostic marker for HNSCC and has been shown to promote tumor cell migration.
