FASN

Test Description

Fatty acid synthase (FASN) is a multi-enzyme complex that catalyzes the formation of long-chain saturated fatty acids from acetyl-CoA and malonyl-CoA. Composed of two identical polypeptides with seven different catalytic sites, FASN is responsible for the bulk of endogenous lipogenesis in mammals, producing lipids in the liver for export to metabolically active tissues or storage in adipose tissue.
