HER2 (Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ERBB2 gene. HercepTest™ is a semi-quantitative immunohistochemical assay for the determination of HER2 protein overexpression in breast cancer tissues. This assay is FDA-approved as an aid in the assessment of patients who are considered for treatment with Herceptin.
