Alternative Name(s): Progesterone Receptor, PGR

PR

Test Description

Progesterone receptor (PR) is an intracellular steroid receptor that specifically binds progesterone. The two main steroid receptors in breast cancer are estrogen receptor (ER) and PR, and the expression of these hormone receptors provides important prognostic information. Tamoxifen won’t work on hormone-receptor-negative breast cancer.
