ROS1

Test Description

ROS1 is an orphan receptor tyrosine kinase of the insulin receptor family. The function of ROS1 in normal circumstances is undefined, but it has been shown to play an important role in the differentiation of the epidydimal epithelium. Oncogenic fusions of ROS1 are found in several tumors, amongst which glioblastoma, cholangiocarcinoma, ovarian cancer and NSCLC. ROS1 fusion proteins activate common growth and survival pathways like the PI3K/Akt/mTOR, Erk and Stat3 pathways thereby driving cellular proliferation.
