BCL2 exerts an anti-apoptotic survival function in response to a wide range of apoptotic stimuli through inhibition of mitochondrial cytochrome c release. BCL2 IHC may be a useful aid for classification of follicular lymphomas and various diffuse lymphoproliferative diseases.
