MPO

Test Description

Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is an antimicrobial enzyme encoded by the MPO gene and produced in the lysosomes of granulocytic immune cells, particularly macrophages and neutrophils. When released by a cell during degranulation, MPO reacts with H2O2 to form highly reactive oxidizing species, which damages both microorganisms and adjacent tissue.
