HER3 (c-erb-B3) is a member of the ErbB family of transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinases, which also includes the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR; c-erb-B1), HER2 (c-erbB-2/neu), and HER4 (c-erb-B4). Collectively, these are also referred to as the ErbB receptors. HER3 has been reported to be over-expressed in 15–35% of primary breast tumors and may be associated with decreased local control and overall survival.
