Alternative Name(s): Extracellular Signal-Regulated Kinase 2, MAPK1, p42

ERK2

Test Description

ERKs consist of 4 isoforms: ERK-1 (p44), ERK-2 (p42), ERK-3, and ERK-5. Activation of ERK-1 and ERK-2 is mediated by MAP kinase kinase (MAPKK or MEK). ERKs then phosphorylate and activate a variety of substrates including transcription factors, protein kinases, and phosphotyrosine protein phosphatases leading to positive or negative regulation of signaling cascades.
