Alternative Name(s): Phosphorylated 4E-BP1, PHAS-1, EIF4EBP1, 4EBP1, Eukaryotic Translation Initiation Factor 4E Binding Protein 1

P4EBP1

Test Description

The eukaryotic initiation factor 4E binding protein 1 (4E-BP1), also known as PHAS-1 (phosphorylated heat and acid stable protein regulated by insulin 1) binds to eukaryotic initiation factor 4E (eIF-4E) to prevent translation initiation. The pathway leading to 4E-BP1 phosphorylation involves phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) and its downstream effector, the serine–threonine kinase AKT.
